Representative basketball isn’t built over one weekend.
It isn’t built during trials.
And it definitely isn’t built by luck.
True player development is measured over years, not weekends. It happens through hundreds of ordinary training sessions, thousands of small decisions, and a love for the game that keeps growing.
This past weekend, that hard work was put on full display. The 2026 Sydney Comets Rep Rookies took to the court at Hills Basketball Stadium for their first tournament together, proudly representing the City of Sydney Basketball Association against elite clubs from across the region. Across three tough games, they competed with relentless energy, supported one another, and wore the Comets jersey with pride.
While we love watching them compete, we are incredibly thrilled to share a massive milestone for our academy.
The Numbers We Are Proud Of
The official squad selections are in, and the ProBall community is heavily represented:
- 10 of the 15 boys selected for the Sydney Comets Rep Rookies are ProBall athletes.
- 2 of the 6 girls who took the court also came through the ProBall program.
But to be completely honest, the numbers aren't the part we’re most proud of.
Different Journeys. The Same System.
We are proud because we remember exactly where these journeys started.
Some of these kids first walked into a ProBall gym while they were still tagging along with an older brother or sister. Some started years ago as absolute beginners in our MiniBall programs. Others joined us later, taking entirely different paths through the club.
Different journeys, but the exact same foundation:
- The same dedicated coaches encouraging them week after week.
- The same unwavering emphasis on building great habits before chasing scoreboard results.
- The same core belief that patience and development trump quick fixes.
Watching them now transition into the representative pathway with the Comets is a beautiful reminder that progress rarely happens overnight.
This is just the beginning for these little legends. We’re so proud of every single one of them, and we can’t wait to watch where the game of basketball takes them next! ❤️🏀
